Part 1 (January - March)

There's a certain sense of 'deja vu' about my first image of the New Year, since as with 2009 it's 47715 'Poseidon' at Leeming Bar with the first train of the day, the 0950 to Redmire (02/01/2010)

On display in the yard was privately-owned 47540, which is being stored at the Wensleydale Railway. Until the start of the carriageway widening scheme in the middle of last year, this loco had of course resided alongside the A1 a few miles south of Leemin

Today's event had originally been intended to be a '47' running day, also involving 47703. However the HNRC-owned machine has recently suffered a seized traction motor and is currently out of traffic, but had been put on view in the yard (02/01/2010)

47715 arrives at Bedale with the 1205 Leeming Bar-Redmire. The lack of run-round facilities at Leeming meant that the line's '20' was being used to drag trains the final few hundred yards into the station, so a few of us decided to explore the nearby town

Having popped down the road for a quick pint in front of a warm fire in one of the local pubs, we walked back up to Bedale station in what could only be described as a blizzard. 47715 arrives with the the last train of the day from Leeming, the 1445 to Redmire (02/01/2010)

With several inches of snow covering the platforms, 47402 pauses at Ramsbottom with 2G57 0950 Bury-Rawtenstall during the Type 4/5 Diesel Theme Day at the East Lancashire Railway (09/01/2010)

A first real look at the immaculate 47402, which has recently been unveiled in as close to 'as-built' condition as could realistically be achieved. The loco runs round at Rawtenstall after working 2G57 from Bury (09/01/2010)

47501 'Craftsman' is pictured on arrival at a foggy Workington with 2Z29 1250 from Maryport. With funding for the Cumbrian shuttles apparently having been secured until at least May, this was an early opportunity to sample a '47'-hauled service train in the new decade (18/01/2010)

With the mist having cleared, 47501 is seen arriving at Maryport on the rear of 2T30 1335 ex-Workington, hauled by 57008 (18/01/2010)

What is it with Wensleydale this year This is my second visit to the line in 2010, and I've been greeted with a blizzard on both occasions 47715 'Poseidon' backs onto the stock at Redmire before working the 1105 back to Leeming Bar 21/02/2010

The heavy snow (which unfortunately seemed to deter many from making the journey to North Yorkshire for a charity running day in support of the Royal British Legion and Help For Heroes) lasted a matter of hours. 47715 is seen here at Redmire after working

47798 had been due to attend the railway for the event, but was failed with a load-regulator fault before leaving the 'NRM' on Friday afternoon. Resident 47715 was therefore entrusted with all three return trips, and 'Poseidon' is pictured on arrival back
