Day breaks over High Wycombe as 47853 awaits departure with 1Z68 0552 'Statesman' charter to Kingswear. This train was originally intended to run direct to Oxford using the relatively new chord at Bicester but re-signalling work as part of the East - West Rail project had led to it being routed. Just visible at the rear is 47828 which would work forward to Devon after the reversal at Banbury (28/08/2021)
Later that evening 47853 is pictured again on arrival back into High Wycombe from Banbury with the 1Z69 1725 return leg. A double run-round had taken place at Kingswear to allow 47828 to work the bulk of the journey back via the Berks & Hants after a potential issue had been spotted earlier that morning (28/08/2021)
47772 'Carnforth TMD' departs from Taunton on a VSTP 0Z29 1156 to Southall. The loco had just arrived with the Railway Touring Company's 1Z22 0846 Slough - Par 'Rpyal Duchy' charter and should have been continuing light to Plymouth to work the train forward whilst the steam loco was turned and serviced at Laira. However, the discovery of a main generator defect had brought a premature end to proceedings and instead it was being sent back to the Capital to be exchanged with sister 47245 for the return journey later that evening (29/08/2021)
