47772 'Carnforth TMD' departs from Taunton on a VSTP 0Z29 1156 to Southall. The loco had just arrived with the Railway Touring Company's 1Z22 0846 Slough - Par 'Rpyal Duchy' charter and should have been continuing light to Plymouth to work the train forward whilst the steam loco was turned and serviced at Laira. However, the discovery of a main generator defect had brought a premature end to proceedings and instead it was being sent back to the Capital to be exchanged with sister 47245 for the return journey later that evening (29/08/2021)
Shortly afterwards 47805 'Roger Hosking MA' powers north in the shadow of Pen-y-Ghent with 1Z28 0835 Bangor - Appleby 'Statesman' charter. The preceding train had fortuitously hit an unexpected window of sunlight and had this one appeared just a couple of minutes earlier then the result might have been somewhat more spectacular (30/08/2021)
