After the run down to the West Country via Oxford and Melksham, 47853 + 47593 are seen departing Paignton for Goodrington Sidings with the 5Z73 1322 empty stock (30/06/2021)

An hour later 47593 + 47853 are seen arriving back into Paignton with the 5Z74 1611 from Goodrington Sidings (30/06/2021)

Later that evening 47593 + 47853 are pictured again on arrival into Wolverhampton with 1Z73 1626 from Paignton. The return journey had taken a slightly different route via Bristol and Bath before continuing with the reverse of the outward leg at Chippenham (30/06/2021)

As I was in no particular hurry to get home I thought I'd wander down to Balm Road to get a shot of the '90' being shunted onto Midland Road. Imaging my surprise then when I looked over the wall to see that the train loco for 0E90 1100 ex-Basford Hall was none other than 47830, which was making its first visit to Leeds for several years. Having just attached 66602 and 70016 (which had arrived on 0Exx 1254 from Earles Sidings) to 90041, 'Beeching's Legacy' draws forward under the watchful eye of the Hunslet Yard shunter to allow another '66' to join the rear of the consist (01/07/2021)

Having eased the convoy out of the yard, 47830 passes the site of Hunslet station shortly afterwards with 90041 + 66602 + 70016 + 66413 in tow. The Freightliner depot at Midland Road can only be accessed from the 'Up' direction so the locos were en route to Holbeck to reverse (01/07/2021)

I was walking past the depot entrance at Midland Road as 47830 was inching its way along '8-Road' so felt obliged to poke my lens through the palisade. I'm told the '47' was due a visit to the wheel lathe and as the '90' was coming across the Pennines for the same reason it made sense to use it for the move (01/07/2021)

As night falls, 47746 'Chris Fudge' awaits departure from York with 5Z65 2233 ECS move back to Carnforth. The 'Brush' had earlier worked the return leg of West Coast Railways' return 'Dalesman' charter from Hellifield to Leeds, with sister loco 47237 then taking over for the onward run to York via Outwood and Castleford after the booked reversal (01/07/2021)

Day breaks over Derby as 47593 + 47853 await departure with 1Z45 0450 'Statesman' charter to Penzance (03/07/2021)

47593 + 47853 are pictured again with 1Z45 at Exeter St David's during a pathing stop that doubled as a leg-stretching opportunity (03/07/2021)

Almost eighteen hours after departure, 47853 + 47593 are pictured on arrival back into Derby with the 1Z46 1500 return leg from Penzance (03/07/2021)

47593 + 47853 arrive into Platform 7 at Shrewsbury with 5Z80 0407 from Crewe HS. The stock was for the 0500 'Statesman' charter to Penzance (07/07/2021)

Several hours later the pair are pictured again on arrival at Penzance with 1Z80, which they'd worked throughout in multiple via the 'Marches' and Severn Tunnel (07/07/2021)

47593 + 47853 propel 5Z81 1400 ECS move past Penzance Signal Box out to Sloper Siding. Typically the first seven coaches had passed me in sunlight before the clouds intervened (07/07/2021)

Later that evening 47853 + 47593 are pictured on arrival at Shrewsbury with the 1Z81 1524 return 'Statesman' charter from Penzance. The pair would depart shortly afterwards as 5Z83 2359 to Crewe HS (07/07/2021)

47749 'City of Truro' brings up the rear of consist as 5Q11 dives underneath the M1 motorway. For obvious reasons I'd been hoping the 'Brush' would be leading out of Derby, but consoled myself with the fact that even if it had done the weather wasn't playing ball. Well, not for another five minutes anyway... (08/07/2021)

A couple of hours later 47853 + 47828 await departure from Scarborough with the 1Z47 1520 return charter to St Albans. The 'IC Swallow' liveried machine was a short-notice replacement for 'Galloway Princess' which had succumbed to a wheelset issue discovered after arriving back off Wednesday's tour and was working its first passenger train for LSL (10/07/2021|)

GBRF's 47727 'Edinburgh Castle' basks in some beautiful evening sunlight on shed at Leicester as I was heading home after bailing off the charter at Kettering. The photo is taken through the saloon window of a departing EMR '180' so may lack the usual SLR sharpness. 56081 and 37905 complete the scene (10/07/2021)
