Against the distinctive backdrop of Wild Boar Fell, 47593 'Galloway Princess' approaches Shotlock Hill Tunnel with the 5Z40 0650 empty stock move from Appleby NE Sidings to Skipton (01/09/2020)

A couple of hours later 47712 'Lady Diana Spencer' races towards Garsdale en route back north with the first of the day's tourist charters, 1Z40 0835 Skipton - Appleby (01/09/2020)

With the clouds now beginning to fill the previously clear blue skies, 47593 crosses Dent Head Viaduct with 1Z42 1035 Appleby - Skipton. Whilst this might not be the most spectacular of shots these days due to the surrounding foliage, having already photographed 'Galloway Princess' at a couple of nearby locations on this same working I felt today might offer a suitable opportunity to add this one to the collection. It nearly didn't work out though, as per the encroaching shadow in the foreground (01/09/2020)

Having used the intervening couple of hours to re-position the car further north, 47712 is seen racing across Waitby Common with 1Z43 1218 Skipton - Appleby (01/09/2020)

I nearly changed location for this working and I'm so glad I didn't: 47593 'Galloway Princess' rounds the curve at Waitby with 1Z44 1438 Appleby - Skipton (01/09/2020)

Later that evening 47593 catches the last rays of sunlight at Niffany Bridge on the approach to Skipton with 1Z46 1758 ex-Appleby (01/09/2020)

47593 captures the attention of both passengers and photographers as it arrives back into Appleby station from the sidings with the empty stock for 1Z46 1758 to Skipton (04/09/2020)

The next morning 47593 is pictured on arrival at Skipton with the 5Z40 0650 empty stock move from Appleby NE Sidings. With the gen that the final week of 'Staycation Express' operation would only feature a '47' at one end of the train and my photo collection as complete as it was going to be, I'd decided that a ride out was long overdue (05/09/2020)

The resident sheep seem unperturbed as 47712's driver applies the power on departure from Skipton with 1Z43 1218 to Appleby (05/09/2020)

Shortly afterwards 47802 approaches Niffany Bridge from the opposite direction with an additional 5Z43 0757 empty stock move from Carnforth Steamtown to York Holgate Sidings for a steam hauled charter the following day (05/09/2020)

47805 is pictured on arrival at Ravenglass with 1Z87 0640 'Statesman' charter from Derby (08/09/2020)

WIth the train now empty of passengers, 47805 crosses the viaduct on departure from Ravenglass with the 5Z87 1223 ECS move to Sellafield (08/09/2020)

Later that afternoon 47805 arrives back into Ravenglass with the return 5Z88 1540 empty stock move from Sellafield (08/09/2020)

47805 awaits departure from Ravenglass with 1Z89 1615 return charter to Derby. Not the highest milesage of tours, but a pleasant change to travel over routes such as the Hope Valley and Bolton Corridor that I've not done behind a '47' for several years now (08/08/2020)

47772 'Carnforth TMD' approaches Shipley with the 5Z61 1050 Carnforth Steamtown to York Holgate Sidings empty stock move. Sister 47802 was d.i.t. and after the lead loco was detached on arrival would work the A1 Steam Loco Trust's 'Queen of Scots' charter from York to Carlisle the next morning (11/09/2020)

47712 'Lady Diana Spencer' crawls towards a red signal at Blea Moor with the delayed 1Z40 0835 Skipton - Appleby. Had the late-running Northern unit in front of it either been on time or held back to follow the charter there's every chance the light might have been somewhat better than this but the distinctive outline of Ingleborough in the background still makes for an interesting composition (12/09/2020)

Having just traversed Ribblehead Viaduct, 47712 'Lady Diana Spencer' opens up on the approach to the double-track section at Blea Moor with 1Z43 1218 Skipton - Appleby. Under normal circumstances I'd have been looking straight towards the sun from here for this shot but on this occasion my gamble of there being sufficient cloud cover paid off (12/09/2020)

With Pen-y-Ghent on the horizon, 47712 brings up the rear of 1Z44 1438 Appleby - Skipton having just passed Salt Lake Cottages (12/09/2020)

Running as 0Z61 1151 Carlisle to York Parcel Sidings, A lone 47802 heads south from Selside towards Horton-in-Ribblesdale. The loco had earlier worked the diesel leg of a York to Edinburgh charter for the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust (12/09/2020)

The rear end view of 47802 against the backdrop of Pen-y-ghent. Had this move been timed to run a few minutes later we might have witnessed the spectacle of two 47s crossing one another on the S&C but this one passed the northbound charter a couple of miles further south (12/09/2020)

47772 'Carnforth TMD' powers away from Normanton with West Coast Railways' 1Z40 0832 York - Carlisle 'Dalesman' charter (15/09/2020)

47802 brings up the rear of 1Z40 as the train passes the site of the former Goose Hill Junction. An hour or so later the loco would work forward from Leeds to Hellifield following the booked reversal before eventually giving way to steam traction for the run over the S&C (15/09/2020)

47593 + 47805 await departure from Crewe with 1Z30 0615 'Statesman' charter to Weymouth (16/09/2020)
