47401 'North Eastern' crosses Butterley Reservoir with the empty stock for 2P21 1100 to Riddings during a running day at the Midland Railway Centre. Although I'd tried a similar shot to this last month, on this occasion the sun was shining (04/05/2014)

47813 'Solent' is pictured on arrival at Glasgow Central with 1Z27 0700 charter from Llandudno Junction, which had been organised jointly by Compass Tours and the Diocese of St Asaph. 47828 was on the rear of the train to work the empty stock to Polmadie, having run round in Clydesdale loop after working in multiple with its class-mate for the bulk of the journey (05/05/2014)

Dwarfed by the Manchester skyline, 47832 crosses Middlewood Viaduct on the approach to Ordsall Lane with 1Z10 1800 Northern Belle charter from Manchester Victoria to Barrow-in-Furness. 47853 is on the rear to work the train forward from Liverpool Lime Street (09/05/2014)

47805 'John Scott' calls at Chester with Pathfinder Tours' 1Z53 0520 Hereford to Scarborough charter (10/05/2014)

47853+47805 are pictured again on arrival at Carlisle, having completed an unscheduled non-stop run from Crewe in just under two hours after the 'Pendo' that was due to overtake us at Grayrigg developed a fault (17/05/2014)

Having been up to Kingmoor for servicing, 47805+47853 arrive back into Carlisle with the empty stock for the 1Z72 1500 return charter to Swindon via the S&C (17/05/2014)

47402 crosses the river at Wansford as it backs onto the rear of the 1300 to Peterborough via Yarwell during the Nene Valley Railway's Diesel Gala (18/05/2014)

With three ex-DSB coaches and D9529 in tow, 47402 waits to depart from Yarwell Junction with 1E50 1300 Wansford-Peterborough (18/05/2014)

Having made the short run through the tunnel with '1E50', 47402 awaits the arrival of a westbound train at Wansford. The '14' with which it had 'top-and-tailed' the train to Yarwell and back was detached here (18/05/2014)

47596 'Aldeburgh Festival' backs onto the 1415 to Wymondham Abbey at Dereham. (24/05/2014)

47596 backs onto the final train of the day at Dereham. An enhanced timetable was in operation for a 'Peppa Pig' event, which made for an easy day out from home on what was a relatively quiet weekend for mainline '47' activity (24/05/2014)

As I was on my way across town for a train back towards Peterborough I thought I'd take the opportunity to photograph 47596 in the loop at Wymondham Abbey after working the 1630 from Dereham. I didn't stay around to watch, but the return working involved the attachment of 45133 and a further seven coaches that had just been delivered from Derby by DCR (24/05/2014)

A couple of hours later 47818 heads 2P32 1736 to Great Yarmouth at Norwich. Also in the vicinity of Thorpe station at the time were 47501 on standby duty, plus 47746 + 47580 which had just arrived on an ECS move from Carnforth for the following day's NENTA charter (30/05/2014)
