Shortly after my last visit to Fishguard the run-round loop was lifted and the station played host only to DMUs and HSTs for the remainder of the decade. Since then the loop has been reinstated and then lifted again! Fortunately the fence which once ran alongside this road has also gone, which has opened up this attractive view of 47813 'on the blocks' (03/12/2013)
Recently-reinstated (it worked its first passenger train for ten years in late October) 47746 is pictured on arrival at Edinburgh Waverley with West Coast Railways' 1Z30 0630 charter from Bridlington (14/12/2013)
My previous run on 47746 was on First North Western's vice-DMU loco-hauled turns in North Wales during the summer of 2003, after which it was purchased by the Brush Type 4 Fund and stored at the MoD site at Long Marston, before being sold on to West Coast in the summer of 2011. Here's another view of the loco at Waverley after working 1Z30 (14/12/2013)
