47640 'University of Strathclyde' makes its way 'off shed' at Shackerstone prior to working the first of ten return trips to Shenton during a privately chartered '47 running day' at the Battlefield Railway (04/09/2009)
In addition to being an opportunity to accumulate some miles behind one of the more low-profile preserved '47s', the event doubled as a 'stag do' for a certain follower of the Class. A number of the train's passengers are pictured with '640 during a photo-stop at Market Bosworth
47640 is seen here on arrival at Shenton with the 1404 from Shackerstone (04/09/2009)

On the rear of 1Z71 was 47245. The early morning sun hadn't yet penetrated the north end of the cutting at Welbeck, so this isn't the best of shots - I've included it on the grounds that this particular machine has been rather elusive so far this year (12/09/2009)
A steam loco worked the train forward from Hellifield Goods loop, with the '47s' heading light to York to pick up the return leg later that evening. Running as 0Z71 1059 Hellifield-York, 47760 leads 47245 through Stourton, Leeds (12/09/2009)

47580 arrives at Goathland with 2P01 0930 Goathland-Pickering - its first duty of the NYMR's Diesel Gala. I'd had to pick up a hire-car in Leeds first thing that morning, so missed out on the first three-or-so miles... (18/09/2009)

47580 is pictured on arrival at Pickering with 2P09 1330 ex-Grosmont. The loco was booked to work 'main line' trains to Whitby for the rest of the weekend, so this should have been it's last appearance at the southern end of the NYMR (18/09/2009)
My 40th birthday began with an overnight drive to Norwich for a 'Nenta' charter to Carlisle, which fittingly passed through my home town(s) and place of birth as 47787 made its way north. Running as 5Z48 1548 ex-Carlisle Yard, 47826 passes Carlisle Castle
