It's been a while since my last rail journey in the Emerald Isle and what was intended to be a four day pre-Christmas visit was abandoned after a series of more restrictive COVID measures were introduced in response to sudden and rapid spread of the 'Omicron' variant. '201' class no. 217 awaits departure from Dublin Heuston with the 1100 to Cork as I was making my way out to see family in Co. Mayo for the long weekend (24/12/2021)
