Just a few minutes behind the Galway to Dublin train I'd alighted from, no. 084 cruises into Portarlington with A211, the 1120 from Cork to Heuston. In the opposite platform is the Westport service awaiting the road towards Athlone (11/07/1994)

Later that afternoon, '141' Class no. 155 awaits departure from Dublin Heuston with A416, the 1740 to Limerick. This weekday commuter service was something of an anomaly in that it was booked for a rake of Cravens coaches - which certainly offered a lively ride along the Cork Main Line (12/07/1994)

On arrival into Cork later that evening I was greeted by the sight of one of the last surviving 'A' Class locos no. 011 at the head of a train of ammonia tanks from Marino Point to Shelton Abbey (12/07/1994)
