On a day when seemingly every other train was experiencing disruption of some form or another I'd erred on the side of caution and headed for Munich in plenty of time for my flight home. The final move of what's been a thoroughly worthwhile trip was a short hop out to München Ost for the S-Bahn forward to the Airport: 218426 awaits departure with RB27055 1748 München Hbf - Mühldorf (22/11/2021)
The 'Südbahn' REs are due to be worked throughout by Class '146s' from December now that the electrification scheme has been completed, so this was very much my farewell visit to a route that's rarely been open in its entirety during the last three years. On a grey Autumn day a work-stained 218431 makes a typically spirited departure from Ravensburg with RE4213 1001 Stuttgart - Friedrichshafen Stadt (22/11/2021)
218446 waits to head out to the sidings with the empty stock off RE57593 1337 Kempten - München. This is another 'Rabbit' turn that will disappear from next month with Kempten's '218s' due to take over the Oberstdorf 'Inter City' workings (22/11/2021)
