Dawn breaks the following morning as 218436 awaits departure from Friedrichshafen Hafen with RE4244 0724 to Stuttgart Hbf. The branch may only be a quarter of a mile long, but the sole loco hauled service to visit the terminus in the current timetable is this one early in the morning on weekends and public holidays and it's been on my radar for some time. Fortunately on this occasion the desired traction produced as the other three Südbahn diagrams today were all '245s' (20/11/2021)
A few hours later 218436 is pictured again at Lindau with RE4218 1105 to Stuttgart. The 'Hbf' has now been renamed 'Insel' to distinguish it from the new 'Reutin' station on the avoiding at which all long-distance trains will call from next month to cut out the time-consuming reversal. My final visit here on this trip the following day was in darkness and went unrecorded, so only time will tell if this will be my last photograph of a '218' at this popular location (20/11/2021)
A work-stained 218431 arrives into Ulm with RE3247 1122 from Donaueschingen. Although still nominally diagrammed for a '218' and three 'Dostos' it's relatively rare for this turn not to be covered by DMUs of late (20/11/2021)
