It's a beautiful morning in Munich, where Kempten's 218429 has just arrived with RE57407 1007 from Memmingen (07/02/2020)

Shortly afterwards 218418 is seen waiting to depart from the main part of the station with EC194 1213 Munchen - Zurich (07/02/2020)

Just over two and a half hours later 218418 is pictured again on arrival into Lindau with EC194. This was a loco I'd only previousy travelled behind on one occasion back in 2017, and has recently returned to traffic after a lengthy spell on the sidelines (07/02/2020)

218426 backs onto EC195 1302 Zurich - Munchen in order to take the train forward from Lindau. Previously the loco off the incoming EC194 would have gone straight back on this duty, but there may have been a recent tweak to the loco diagrams (07/02/2020)

Early the next morning 218418 waits to depart from Munchen Hbf with EC196 0714 to Zurich (08/02/2020)

Still sporting its attractive promotional liver advertising the Allgau region, 223013 shunts the two-coach branch shuttle at Immenstadt before working ALX84134 0914 to Oberstdorf (08/02/2020)

With traces of recent snowfall still hugging the ballast, 218476 departs Oberstdorf with IC2084 0941 to Augsburg (08/02/2020)

Ulm duo 218491 + 218499 await departure shortly afterwards with IC2012 0951 Oberstdorf - Dortmund, which they would take as far as Stuttgart (08/02/2020)

Stuttgart isn't the most photogenic of locations, particularly for trains arriving at the buffers. The 'country' end of the station is marginally better though, and 218491 + 218499 are seen here making their way to the sidings after the departure of IC2012 (08/02/2020)

A couple of hours later the pair are seen here being coupled up to IC2013 0950 Dortmund - Oberstdorf for the the journey back down to the Austrian border (08/02/2020)

218425 is pictured on arrival at Memmingen with RE57420 2020 from Munchen Hbf. Having just done 218436 from Sonthofen (off IC2013) across to Ulm on the weekly 'Winter Sports' train for a unit back to here, I was hedging my bets that both this and its return working to Munich were actually booked to be hauled on a Saturday night and was mightily relieved to see the 'Rabbit' roll in. It nearly went wrong though: the driver was at the time uncoupling the loco in order to swap it with a fresh engine from Kempten - which luckily for me was 218406 (08/02/2020)
