The the first day of what for me was something of a journey into the unknown! 218307 + 218333 depart Husum on the north western coast of Germany with IC2072 0654 Dresden Hbf - Westerland (14/09/2017)

The following afternoon, 218496 catches some late summer sunshine at Ulm after arriving on the rear of RE4224 1605 Lindau - Stuttgart. The diesel was exchanged here for the booked electric loco forward (15/09/2017)

Shortly afterwards 218487 + 218476 ready themselves for departure from Ulm having taken over IC2013 0601 Magdeburg - Oberstdorf for the last leg of the journey into the Alps (15/09/2017)

In the last of the daylight, 218423 + 218498 are pictured on arrival into Lindau with EC192 1633 Munchen Hbf - Basel SBB (15/09/2017)

The same pair are pictured again the following morning at Kempten on their way back down to Lindau with EC196 0717 Munchen Hbf - Zurich (16/09/2017)

218476 arrive into Immenstadt with IC2084 0940 Oberstdorf - Augsburg (16/09/2017)

Shortly afterwards the loco is seen departing back north on the rear of RE57413 1605 to Munchen (16/05/2017)

The sun begins to set over Buchloe as 218420 pauses with RE57514 1751 Munchen Hbf - Fussen. Heading in the opposite direction on the right is 245002 with the 1807 ex-Memmingen (16/09/2017)

A busy scene at Freidrichshafen Stadt: on the left is 218438 which has just arrived with RE4214 0905 ex-Lindau. Passengers were though in the process of transferring across to the train in platform 3 to continue their journey north: 218427 had arrived with RE4207 0700 ex-Stuttgart which had been cut short to effect the set-swap (17/09/2017)

To add to the general confusion, Lindau trains were today only running to/from Enzisweiler due to engineering works: In this view 218438 waits to go forwards from Freidrichshafen Stadt as RE4207, whilst in the distance is 218427 with the departing RE4214 (17/09/2017)

245213 calls at Itzehoe with RE11012, the 1040 from Hamburg Altona to Westerland (28/10/2017)

218833 + 218344 arrive at Itzehoe with IC2311 the 0926 from Westerland to Stuttgart Hbf. The pair were exchanged here for a '101' Class electric locomotive for the onward journey (28/10/2017)

218340 + 218385 arrive at Niebull with IC2315 1326 Westerland - Frankfurt (Main) Hbf. Just visible in the background is 218315, which was en route to the island of Sylt with sister loco 218333 on IC2072 (28/10/2017)

218423 pauses at Munchen Ost with RE 27005, the 1721 from Munchen Hbf to Simbach. The train is formed of two sets of double-deck 'Regio' sets with 218419 working in multiple on the rear (24/11/2017)

218494 pauses at Göppingen with IC 118, the 0854 from Innsbruck to Münster. The train is booked for a pair of '218s' between Lindau and Stuttgart and on this occasion only a single loco was provided (25/11/2017)
