Later that afternoon 2016005 is pictured in the shade of Wien Hbf after arriving with the 1238 from Bratislava (08/06/2018)
Eventually we received confirmation that we'd be waiting for our booked slot into the mountains and the pathing stop became a full-blown leg-stretch. This is steam loco 95 112, which has been on display at the station since 1971 along with other artefacts such as a narrow gauge loco formerly used on the narrow gauge Hollentalbahn (09/06/2018)
A couple of hours later with the weather closing in, 1142 609 leads an unidentified 'Taurus' down the pass into Breitenstein with an eastbound intermodal working (09/06/2018)
Following shortly behind was 1116 152 with RJ656, the 1326 Graz to Flughafen Wien OBB Railjet service (09/06/2018)
The following day saw the "Nostalgiefest" held at the Südbahnmuseum in Mürzzuschlag. Amongst the many exhibits was immaculate OBB Vectron no 1293 003 (10/06/2018)
Preserved Austrian electric loco no 1010 02 had arrived on the back of a steam-hauled charter from Vienna, having assisted over the "Semmeringbahn" (10/06/2018)
The '47' and the '1010' draw admiring glances from some of the crowds at the "Nostalgiefest" (10/06/2018)
Another visitor was Slovenian Railways' 644 016, which had worked the 0530 charter train from Ljubljana (10/06/2018)
Preserved Hungarian Railways 'Nohab' no 61 001 had arrived at Mürzzuschlag piloting a steam loco (which also had an electric 'banker' on the rear) on one of several charter trains in connection with the event. The sight of the return leg (triple-headed by all three) to Budapest Kelenfold passing through Wiener Neustadt later that evening as out '47' was running round was simply surreal (10/06/2018)
Our train was booked to recess for a short while at Semmering, during which steam loco 310 23 (banked by the '1010' electric) arrived with the returning charter from Mürzzuschalg to Wien Heiligenstadt (10/06/2018)
Photographic opportunities were limited on the journey back towards Budapest: this is former MAV 2-6-2 steam loco no 324 1518, which is plinthed at Sopron station (10/06/2018)
Sporting a special livery to commemmorate the 60th anniversary of the 1956 Revolution, MAV-START 'Taurus' no 470 001 is pictured inside the train shed at Budapest Keleti after arriving with D347, the 1942 WIen - Bucresti Nord (10/06/2018)
