On a beautiful Autumn morning, DRS' 37218 passes through the cutting beneath the rows of terraced housing in Burley, Leeds on the first leg of the 3S29 0827 York Works to York Works RHTT circuit (02/10/2022)
With the water-jetting clearly evident, 37422 brings up the rear of 3S29 alongside Burley Park. 'Victorious' would lead the next leg of the circuit from Leeds out to Hellifiield (02/10/2022)
Later that morning with the sunlight having quickly given way to cloud, 37218 passes Dockfield Junction, Shipley, on its way back from Hellifiield to Leeds (02/10/2022)
37422 once again brings up the rear of 3S29 0827 York Works - York Works and would lead the final leg of the circuit back to base via Harrogate and Knaresborough (02/10/2022)
Colas Rail's former LNER HST power cars 43251 and 43257 top and tail 1Q18 1026 Derby RTC to Darlington (via the S&C and Tyne Valley) test train on the approach to Dockfield Junction (02/10/2022)
46115 'Scots Guardsman' accelerates away from Shipley with the late-running 1Z64 0941 Carnforth - York charity charter on behalf of the Lune Rivers Trust (02/10/2022)
47804 brings up the rear of 1Z64 0941 Carnforth - York at what's now a heavily overgrown location at Dockfield Junction (02/10/2022)
37425 passes the site of Rothwell Colliery with the 3S20 1646 York Works to Selby via Engine Shed Junction RHTT. Although the train itself was never going to catch any sunlight due to the height of the trees behind me, I was hoping that the same might not be true of the backdrop and as a record shot of 'heritage' traction at work on these turns this hasn't turned out too badly at all. Class mate 37419 is just visible on the rear (03/10/2022)
Shortly afterwards 66565 has just passed beneath the M1 motorway at Stourton with a well laden 4O31 1750 Leeds FLT - Southampton Mearitime intermodal as it approaches the same spot from the opposite direction (03/10/2022)
Rounding off a busy ten-minute spell that was never intended to yield outstanding photographic results, 66562 crawls towards the last signal before its destination with 4E24 1049 London Gatway - Leeds FLT (03/10/2022)
Under a threatening sky 60020 'The Willows' rounds the curve towards Balm Road in Hunslet with the 6E97 1044 Newbiggin - Tees Dock gypsum empties, which are once again booked for 'heritage' traction during 'leaf fall' season (06/10/2022)
37425 passes the now closed signal box at Mill Lane Junction with an additional 3J00 0847 York Works to Bradford Interchange RHTT (08/10/2022)
Class mate 37419 departs Bradford Interchange with what was now 3J01 1050 to Hebden Bridge. Strike action today by members of the RMT union had offered a rare opportunity to run the RHTTs in daylight hours on routes where service levels usually dictate nocturnal activity (08/10/2022)
An hour or so later 37419 leads 3J02 1140 Hebden Bridge - Ilkley on the approach to Brighouse (08/10/2022)
37425 brings up the rear of 3J02 as the train crosses Brighouse Viaduct (08/10/2022)
With 37425 now leading the consist once more after a further reversal in Leeds, 3J02 is captured here at Sun Lane Crossing, Burley-in- Wharfedale, as it nears it's destination (08/10/2022)
331108 approaches Sun Lane Crossing from the opposite direction whilst working 2V35 1340 Ilkley - Leeds (08/10/2022)
Running slightly behind time after waiting for a relief driver at Kirkstall earlier, 37419 heads back south through the beautiful landscape of lower Wharfedale with 3J03 1327 Ilkley - Leeds. The train would shortly traverse the single line from Guiseley to Shipley via Baildon whilst en route to Skipton but unfortunately there are no known photogenic opportunities on a stretch where daylight locomotive hauled trains are exceptionally rare (08/10/2022)
An hour later 37425 approaches Shipley with 3J03 having treated the Airedale route to and from Skipton in both directions (08/10/2022)
The last leg of the day's itinerary involved a further visit to the Wharfedale line. 37419 draws 3J04 1518 Leeds - York Works into Guiseley where the train would reverse (08/10/2022)
Shortly afterwards 37425 is seen departing Guiseley with 3J04 on its way back to base. The reason for this apparent duplication was to treat the short but steeply graded downhill section between Springs Junction and Esholt Junction that hadn't yet been covered (08/10/2022)
