218390 awaits departure from Hamburg Hbf with IC2414 0646 to Fehmarn Burg (02/06/2022)

218390 is pictured again at the end of the short spur off the Lübeck to Puttgarden line after reahing its destination just over two hours later (02/06/2022)

218390 stands in Platform 11 at Hamburg Hbf shortly before departing as IC416 1220 to Fehmarn-Burg. This leg was initially routed via Rothenburgsort before rejoining the main line to Lübeck north of Hasselbrook (02/06/2022)

Having had quite enough of 218390 for today I alighted at Lübeck to go and check in to my overnight accommodation. What had previously been one of my lower mileage 'Rabbits' prepares to depart on the last leg of its journey back to Hamburg on the rear of IC2415 1508 ex-Fehmarn (02/06/2022)

I wasn't quite finished for the day though, because approaching from the opposite direction was 218460 on RE11446 1717 Hamburg - Kiel via Lübeck. The frequently work-shy 'Conny' is seen here after reaching its destination (02/06/2022)

218472 is pictured during the reversal at Halberstadt whilst working RE69374 1108 Magdeburg - Goslar (03/06/2022)

A close-up of the immaculate 218472, which is privately-owned by D-Power and along with the 3-coach 'N-Wagen' rake has been hired in by incumbent operator Abellio to provide additional capacity on their RE21 route whilst the "9-Euro Ticket" promotion takes place throughout Germany during June, July and August (03/06/2022)

Later that afternoon Lappwaldbahn Cargo's 218451 is pictured again at Goslar after arriving on the rear of RE69376 1308 from Magdeburg (03/06/2022)

The folowing morning 218390 does its best to catch some sunshine after arriving into Fehmarn-Burg with IC2414 0659 from Hamburg Hbf (04/06/2022)

A couple of hours later and just a few miles up the coast, 218470 is pictured on arrival into Puttgarden on the rear of RE11448 0823 from Hamburg Hbf (04/06/2022)

The afternoon shot at Puttgarden is never great on a sunny day but given that my last four visits here have been with the same loco it's nice to arrive behind something different! 218460 waits to depart back south with RE11451 1708 to Lübeck Hbf (18/06/2022)

The afternoon 'Strand Express' was well and truly "full and standing" when it arrived back into Lübeck and the decision to terminate it here this weekend certainly wasn't overly popular with many of those on board who assumed they were en route back to Hamburg. Three hours later and with night falling, 218460 awaits departure from Lübeck with RB11134 2201 to Kiel. The reason for the use of loco hauled sets on what's normally a line operated by DMUs was to provide additional capacity during the 10-day 'Kieler Woche' festival which had begun the previous day (18/06/2022)
